Baking and Eyebrows

After you finish blending out your concealer, you can use a powder to set your face. Applying powder on top of your foundation and concealer ensures that your makeup will last longer throughout the day and keep it from creasing. “Baking” is a technique used for primarily for undereye concealer to keep it from creasing. To “bake” your face, you simply take translucent powder on a slightly damp beauty blender and pack it on top of where you applied concealer. You let the powder sit on your face for three to five minutes before you brush it off. The heat from your face draws out the oils in your skin and mixes with the powder, allowing your skin to stay matte. After you have waited three to five minutes, you can use a large makeup brush to dust the excess powder off. Baking is recommended for people who suffer from oily skin. After you finish setting your face, it is up to you to decide which area of your makeup that you would like to move on to. Personally, I like to do my eyebrows and eyemakeup after I set my face.

I always find it easiest to do my eyebrows before I start applying eyeshadow, just in case I’m not happy with how they look and I want to fix them.Since eyebrows can change the way you look, it is always best to figure out how they best suit your face. When it comes to doing your eyebrows, you first need to decide whether or not you want to follow your natural brow shape, or if you want to make your own. If you plan to follow your natural brow shape then it is usually easier to use a brow pencil or powder. Although if you want to shape your eyebrows a certain way, brow pomade and brow gel is generally a lot easier to work with. If you plan to use a pomade or a gel, you should always start with a small amount and build the pigmentation up. Trust me, a little goes a long way when it comes to brow pomades. After you fill in your eyebrows, you can use a clear or tinted brow gel to keep your brow hairs in place. Brow gel is basically mascara for your eyebrows. If your eyebrows come out looking a little messy then you can always use concealer to clean up the edges of them.

Ever since my sophomore year of high school, I've been fascinated with makeup. My skills have definitely improved since I started with hot pink eyelids and intense eyeliner. I owe most of my makeup knowledge to YouTube and Pinterest. I'm still constantly learning new techniques and skills when it comes to doing my makeup. When I first started to do my makeup there was so much that I needed to learn and figure out. I'm going to use the knowledge that I have about makeup to hopefully help someone else learn a thing a two.
Since makeup primarily goes on your face, it is very important that you take care of your skin. You always need to wash your face to clean out your pores and to make sure you wash all of your makeup off. After you wash your face it's always best to moisturize your entire face. This will make sure that your skin stays hydrated and helps your makeup go on more easily. Before you apply any makeup, you should definitely start with primer. Primer helps to ensure that your foundation stays on all day and keeps it looking fresh. You can either use your hands or a makeup brush to smooth out the primer onto your entire face. After applying the primer you can put on BB cream or foundation.  The best way to decide which one to use is by determining how much coverage you want your face to have. BB cream has a lighter coverage than foundation and usually just gives your face a tint of color. Most foundations give a lot more coverage than BB creams. Foundation is best for evening out your skin tone and covering imperfections. Foundation comes in three forms-liquid, powder, and even spray. Testing out different foundations throughout the day is the best way to determine which one is right for you.
After you get your foundation evenly applied onto your face, you can move on to concealer. Concealer can be used for different purposes depending on what kind you get. You can get colored concealers that can correct color pigmentation on your face. For instance, green cancels out red, purple cancels out yellow, and red cancels out brown. You can use them to make your skin tone look more even by applying concealer that matches your skin tone over them. Concealer that matches your skin tone can be used to cover dark spots and acne, and lighter concealer can be used to brighten up your face. By applying concealer under your eyes, down the bridge of your nose, and on your forehead you can make your face look a lot brighter.
